Plain-English summary

  • • We collect the minimum we need to run the app.
  • • We never sell your data.
  • • Your forum posts and builds marked Public are public on purpose.
  • • You can delete your account and all your data any time.
  • • Push notifications are opt-in per topic.

1. Who we are

ShowUp is operated by JS-Alternators LLC ("ShowUp," "we," "us"). When you use the ShowUp mobile app or website (the "Services"), this policy describes what we collect and how we use it.

2. What we collect

Account information

Email address, display name, and (optionally) profile photo when you create an account. Authentication is handled by Firebase Auth (Google LLC) on our behalf.

Content you create

Vehicle builds, saved calculator results, event RSVPs, forum posts and replies, trail check-ins, business reviews, and any photos you upload. Some of this is private to your account; some is public — see "What's public" below.

Device & usage data

Platform (iOS/Android), app version, push notification token (when push is enabled), and anonymized event metrics so we know which features are useful. We do not collect your contacts, microphone, photos library, or other system-level data without an explicit permission prompt.

Location

Only when you grant the app permission, used to sort "Shows Near You" and to prefill your trail check-ins. Location is processed on your device; we do not store your raw coordinates server-side outside of features you explicitly trigger (e.g. a trail check-in saves the trail id, not your live position).

Crash & error reports

When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error we receive a stack trace via Firebase Crashlytics. These contain no personal information unless you've enabled the "Include account email in crash reports" toggle in Profile → Settings.

3. What's public

These things are visible to other ShowUp users by design:

Saved calculator results, RSVPs, notification preferences, push tokens, and any build toggled Private are not visible to other users.

4. How we use it

5. Who we share it with

We use a small number of subprocessors who help us run the Services. They are bound by contract to use the data only for that purpose:

We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we do not share data with advertisers for behavioral profiling.

6. Your rights

At any time you can:

California residents have additional rights under CCPA/CPRA (right to know, delete, correct, and not be retaliated against). EU/UK residents have additional rights under GDPR (lawful basis: legitimate interest for service delivery; consent for push and marketing). The same email above is the contact for both.

7. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. After deletion we wipe personal data within 30 days; anonymized aggregate metrics may persist. Crash reports older than 90 days are automatically purged.

8. Children's privacy

ShowUp is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email privacy@showupauto.com and we will delete it.

9. International users

ShowUp is operated from the United States. By using the Services you consent to your data being processed in the U.S. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent with our subprocessors for international transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top whenever this policy changes. For material changes we'll also send an in-app notification and post a notice on the Forum's General board so you can opt out before the new policy takes effect.
